Research:
  • Working outline
  • Introduction including thesis statement
  • Rough draft of body and conclusion paragraphs
Due: Tuesday Nov. 5
Be able to access and work on the file in class. Printing optional.

Requirements for the final paper:
  • 4-5 pages in length (6-8 paragraphs).
  • Introduction includes a detailed thesis statement that gives the topic and point of view.
  • Ideas are organized into clear paragraphs.
  • The paragraphs follow in a logical order that is given in the outline.
  • Each paragraph has a topic sentence and adequate support.
  • Transition words or sentences are used to move from one idea to the next.
  • An understanding of how to quote, paraphrase, and summarize source information is demonstrated, including use of citations.
  • Information from three sources, including at least one book and one article.
  • Information from source material is balanced with the writer's point of view.
  • Correct MLA format.
  • A 'Works Cited' page.
  • A conclusion that restates the topic and thesis statement without presenting new ideas.
